Production Brazer – Aerospace Manufacturing
Location: Denham
Salary: Circa £30,000 per annum
Employment Type: Permanent, Full-Time
We are recruiting an experienced Production Brazer to join a well-established aerospace manufacturing business in Denham.
This is a predominantly brazing-based position, focused on carrying out precise low-temperature silver brazing and high-temperature brass brazing during the manufacture and assembly of specialist components and sub-assemblies.
The successful Production Brazer should have strong practical brazing experience within a manufacturing, engineering or precision production environment. There is a small amount of TIG and spot welding involved, but the main requirement is proven brazing ability, particularly low-temperature silver brazing.
The Role
As the Production Brazer, your duties will include:
- Carrying out low-temperature silver brazing and high-temperature brass brazing
- Brazing components including stud plates, trombone tubes and single-end fitting pipes
- Preparing components prior to brazing, including cleaning, deburring and polishing
- Inspecting completed brazed assemblies to ensure they meet required quality standards
- Carrying out ball-bearing tests and other specified checks on completed work
- Reading and interpreting engineering drawings, job cards and technical instructions
- Working accurately to defined brazing procedures and production schedules
- Undertaking self-inspection and recording completed work
- Using measuring equipment, gas equipment, grinders and engineering hand tools
- Supporting proof-of-concept and development work where required
- Assisting with a small amount of TIG and spot welding
- Following all relevant health and safety procedures, COSHH requirements and safe systems of work
- Supporting 5S, Lean manufacturing and continuous improvement activities
- Maintaining a clean, organised and safe working environment
Skills and Experience Required
- Previous production brazing experience
- Strong experience of low-temperature silver brazing
- Experience of high-temperature brass brazing would be advantageous
- An engineering, aerospace or precision manufacturing background
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings
- Good understanding of component preparation and post-brazing finishing
- Experience using measuring equipment, grinders and engineering hand tools
- Strong attention to detail and a quality-focused approach
- Ability to work accurately to technical specifications and production schedules
- Basic understanding of health and safety and COSHH procedures
- Basic computer skills
- Ability to meet the required eyesight standard for precision work
Certification to BS EN 12797:2000 would be advantageous but is not essential. Relevant welding certification would also be beneficial, although the position is primarily focused on brazing. Candidates will be expected to complete a practical trade test as part of the recruitment process.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Production Brazer to secure a permanent role within a highly regulated, quality-focused aerospace manufacturing environment.
