Skilled CNC Engineer – Aerospace Manufacturing
We have an excellent opportunity for a skilled and motivated CNC Engineer to join our growing aerospace manufacturing team. This role is ideal for an experienced CNC machinist who is looking to further develop their technical capabilities, including training and development in centreless grinding.
Reporting to the Production Manager, you will be responsible for setting and operating a variety of CNC and manual machine tools while maintaining the highest standards of quality, safety, and productivity. You will play a key role in supporting our zero-defect philosophy and continuous improvement culture.
Skilled CNC Engineer Key Responsibilities
- Set and operate CNC machines, lathes, and manual machine tools.
- Learn and develop skills in centreless grinding as part of your daily role.
- Operate a range of secondary operation machinery, including thread rolling equipment, part markers, drill banks, depitching presses, torque testers, and deburring equipment.
- Carry out first-off inspections and in-process quality checks.
- Read and interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications.
- Measure components accurately using micrometers and other precision measuring equipment to tight tolerances.
- Ensure all products meet customer quality requirements and aerospace standards.
- Complete machine maintenance checks and production documentation.
- Identify opportunities to reduce waste, improve efficiency, and minimise scrap and rework.
- Maintain a safe, clean, and organised working environment.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues to achieve production targets and on-time delivery performance.
About You
The successful skilled CNC Engineer candidate will have:
Essential
- Previous experience setting and operating CNC machinery.
- Strong engineering and manufacturing background, ideally within the aerospace sector.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
- Experience working with aluminium, stainless steel, and Inconel materials.
- Strong inspection and measurement skills, including the use of micrometers.
- Excellent attention to detail and commitment to quality.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- A proactive approach to continuous improvement and problem-solving.
Desirable
- Previous grinding or centreless grinding experience.
- Thread rolling experience.
- Knowledge of aerospace quality standards and procedures.
