Russel Fernandes
Automotive Consultant
Russel works in the Automotive department, primarily sourcing HGV drivers and mechanics, and admin staff for the automotive industries and dealerships. On top of that, he also takes care of the social media channels for MTS and offers in-house tech support for software issues, particularly for the Customer Relations Management system.
He has several years’ experience in recruitment and joined MTS after his last job disappeared because of the pandemic –but he’s more than happy with the way things have turned out.
The hunt for HGV drivers, mechanics and technicians is always a challenging one, but even more so now. “It’s simply a case of making the calls, day in and day out,” he says. “You mustn’t let it frustrate you. Having good communications skills is really important. That way, you can get to know people and their needs and also help both candidates and clients understand the processes. You thrive through perseverance."
He explains that making a placement is a real challenge, but this is also where the job satisfaction lies. Finding new clients is also up there on the satisfaction scale. “Best of all, though, is that MTS has given me the chance to take ownership of my job. I have the freedom to develop my own role in the company and expand it.”
In his spare time, Russel is enjoying exploring Britain, finding new places and learning new things –and getting back into running and fitness to keep his stamina up.
