The MD and founding member of MTS Recruitment, Jason is responsible for the day-to-day running of the business.
He worked in technical recruitment for ten years prior to establishing the company, which means he now has over 30 years’ experience in the sector from just two jobs – a fact he is rightly proud of.
“It was a big jump to move from being an employee to being the boss,” he says. “Fortunately, my previous boss was a great mentor and now, over 20 years later, I’ve grown into the position. The job is never the same, so we’re always moving on.”
Jason’s ongoing challenge is to find the right consultants for the business. Being a specialised company, it’s important to find someone who enjoys working in the technical niche. “Thankfully, once we find the right person, they tend to stay and develop with us, but it is a challenge.”
Once the right consultant has been found, Jason’s greatest pleasure is watching them grow in the position and develop their skills.
In his spare time, he enjoys running, skiing and is a season ticket holder at Chelsea FC, all of which, he says, are perfect for clearing the head and blowing away any cobwebs. As for the strategies you need in recruitment, Jason has a keen interest in military history and often hones his skills by watching documentaries on the subject.
“Above all, though, I’m a family man,” he says. “There’s nothing better than spending time with my wife and kids.”
